ON PAPER: An Affordable Art Fair

ON PAPER – an affordable art fair is a contemporary art fair dedicated entirely to works created on paper. It offers an accessible platform for artists, independent publishers, and a broad audience, making art easier to discover, understand, and collect. Public access to the fair is free, encouraging open participation and dialogue. The fair focuses on reproducible and editioned works, exploring how printed art is made, shared, and circulated.

Taking place 27–29 March 2026 at Muzeul Etnografic al Transilvaniei (Galeria Cellarium) in Cluj-Napoca, ON PAPER brings together a diverse range of artistic practices. Visitors can explore digital prints, traditional printmaking, zines, comics, artist books, and collage. The fair encourages direct exchange between artists and visitors and welcomes both first-time collectors and anyone curious about affordable and alternative ways to engage with contemporary art.

Open call & participation

The open call is open until 8 February.

Selected participants will be announced by 16 February.
The participation fee must be paid by 22 February.
Your place will be confirmed once the fee has been paid.

Participation fee
• Full table: 120 lei
• Half table: 60 lei

Table information
ON PAPER is a curated art fair with limited space. While full tables cannot be guaranteed, we will do our best to accommodate everyone.

A full table measures 195 × 67 cm. If a full or half table does not meet your display needs, you may also use a painting easel to present your work. Details regarding easel use and any specific requirements will be discussed individually with selected participants. Please note that participants using an easel must bring their own support (such as cardboard or a wooden board), with a maximum size of 100 × 70 cm.

Exhibition information:
As part of the art fair, an exhibition will be organized. Each participating table may present one highlighted work. Participation is optional, but we would be happy to have you join. More information is available in the application form.

Event structure

ON PAPER functions as a multi-layered cultural platform that includes:

• The ON PAPER Art Fair, where artists and independent creators present and sell their work;
• A curated exhibition by Liviu Bulea and Maria Brudașcă, developed specifically for the context of the fair;
• An artist book exhibition from the collection of Cătălina Nistor, exploring art publications as artistic objects and tools for visual research;
• Workshops & talks, focusing on artistic processes, independent publishing practices, and dialogue between artists, curators, and the public.

Through this structure, ON PAPER extends beyond the traditional fair format, positioning itself as a space for exchange, learning, and encounter within the local and national art community.
